New Delhi, Dec 27: The Supreme Court have extended the deadline for linking of Aadhaar to various government schemes, as well as mobile phones and bank accounts, from December 31 to March 31, 2018.
On the other hand, social media giant Facebook is said to be testing an Aadhaar-based feature on its mobile site. Facebook will be asking its Indian users in India to enter their name mentioned on their Aadhaar card while creating a new account. The move by Facebook will not only encourage new users in India to use their real names on its site and will also curb on the rising number of fake accounts on the platform.
The new change by Facebook was originally Reddit and Twitter users when users after users were prompted to enter their original name as mentioned on their Aadhaar cards claiming that it will make our friends easier to recognise us. Currently, not everyone is getting this prompt from the company on creating new account
This way Facebook will encourage users to use their real names and will help people who fall for fake profiles.
